"What good is it if a man has TEN times his needs whilst his neighbor has ONE TENTH of his?"

Talk amongst yourselves,

The pursuit of wealth is no crime, but it does come with some accompanying pitfalls, not the least being the loss of one's soul. I don't mean the "everlasting soul" of religious fiction, rather the spiritual part of man that connects him to all things. The more money one has the greater the possibility the rich man may feel no responsibility or empathy to and with those of lesser fortune. Wealth is usually acquired by the more agressive among us who, in that pursuit, assume that they have made their wealth by their own labors, and that they owe nothing to those who have , in actuallity, enabled them to amass their fortune. To the horror of the greedy, man has an alternative that serves mankind in far greater measure than religion ever could. We call it Socialism, Secular Humanism and it requires a people to assume responsibilty for themselves and cultivate a caring simpatico with their fellow humans. These qualities become more remote in direct proportion to the quantity of individual wealth. This is why we have a government. This is why this great nation was founded ,and upon these notions of compassion and sharing, this country gave birth to a true nobility that the landed gentry could never possess simply by virtue of their social standing. If you call yourself human, how much money must you acquire and how little concern for the poor can you tolerate and maintain your humanity? History has shown, if you cannot share, your wealth will be wrenched from your hands sooner, or later.

Pockets

1/10 of my neighbors wouldn't be so bad - if my neighbor was Donald Trump - I think at times it is all relative.

And if I am happy with 1/10 maybe that is all I need. -

ALL: HELLO. THANKS for your comments and visits. MUCH appreciated.

I also post this little ditty every so often.

I'm always amazed by the 'range' and the 'scope' and the 'point of view' toward MONEY, itself, that those who do answer/comment always state/post.

FOR THE RECORD:

From MY simpleton life perspective, I wrote this piece NOT to 'denegrate' WEALTHY folks but simply to inquire into the 'human rationale' of SOME having SO much MORE than they'd ever NEED, while others BARELY had or did NOT have their NEEDS met.

I almost always also find that I get very different answers from those I know are REPUBS and those I know to be DEMS. Lots to ponder there, for this old man.

My BEST to ALL,

TallPockets.
